Build a Bear for the Band!

For months we have been talking about how we needed to find a teddy bear to wear Asher's cranial band. Needless to say its NOT easy to find an affordable bear to fit the band made to be worn on a kids head!

Thanks to Groupon we headed over to Build a Bear to make Asher's very own customized bear. The black bear had the largest "head" so it was a easy choice. Asher was enthralled by all of the other kids and birthday parties at the store. More so, than what was going on with his bear. We had to "help" him through the process of building his bear.

He was petrified of the sound that the stuffing machine made. He was clinging to me for his dear life. But oh man it was so cute.

We decided to make the head as full as possible and made the body more snuggly. Its awesome that you really can "create your own bear" just the way you like it.

Where did this shy kid come from? The bear lady was so nice and understanding and let us "manage" the situation.

After we put a special heart inside the bear and sealed it with a kiss the bear lady sewed our bear up.

The next stop was to brush and bathe the bear. Yet again... he was not a fan of the air coming out of the shower heads. I think we were holding him down on the top of the bath at this point.

Next up was dressing the bear. After reviewing all of our options we decided that a Dr's outfit would best suit our bear. After spending over 6+ of Asher's infancy in Dr's offices and hospitals it couldn't have been more suiting. The bear even had a stethescope, blood pressure cuff, dr bag etc.

After we created Chunk Monkey's birth certificate Asher decided to wander off and play with the stroller's at the front of the store. He was infatuated with them.

Boy do I miss that shaggy long hair!

"Mommy, I do not want Chunk Monkey in my stroller!"

"Get him out!"

"Why is this bear cramping my style!"

We left with a super cute bear and a semi pissed child. He wanted to play more with the stroller's and he had zero interest in the bear or the concept. Lesson learned: Asher was too young or ADD for Build a Bear :) Oh well, we have a super cute bear that now bears his cranial band vs. it sitting on the shelf in a closet.
