in our house dr matt is super special...he isnt just our pediatrician, he is our friend.
asher adores him and looks forward to every time he sees him or his staff...even if that means he is sick... he tells dr matt what to check on him, cooperates for him, shows off for him...hopefully mayer will love dr. matt just as much
dr matt already loves him...
time to get naked and get on the scale
when we left the hospital on tuesday he had dropped from 8 lbs 9 oz to 7 lbs 15 oz.
by the time we got to dr matt on thursday he was already back up to 8 lbs 6 oz
look at that sweet face!
dr matt spent most of the appointment snuggling mayer, answering my silly questions and reminding me that im not going to do anything wrong that will harm him for life in the first few weeks.
mayer was suffering from some really bad gas the first week post delivery. we still are not sure if its totally gone, if its a dairy sensitivity or if it was from the oxycodone i was taking or the blood that was in my colostrum. the second night home mayer spent at least half the night nestled up next to me sleeping on his side. if you know me. you know this is a HUGE no no. i dont do co sleeping and i dont do babies in my room. but i did. and that is that. one night. since then mayer has spent the rest of his nights in his crib and he seems very content there. he switches from sleeping swaddled in his miracle blanket to sleeping on his tummy. judge me, but he does sleep on his tummy for one nap a day and one 2-4 hour stretch at night. he has extremely strong neck and head control and can lift his head up and turn it side to side. he can even push up on his arms and lift his chest off the ground.
we returned to see dr. matt a few days later (post circumcision which took place over the weekend - details coming...) because i was concerned regarding some bleeding from mayer's circumcision and his belly button had been snagged and it was hanging by a thread and frankly grossing me out. the smell reminded me of not so good things from asher's delivery and i needed it off. so he took it off, cauterized the belly button and now it has healed and looks perfect. thank heavens for healthy babies!
