I thought it would be easier

I found that weaning makes me whiney & worrying more.
Oh my chest hurts.
Oh will he adjust to organic whole milk
Oh will he have issues with dairy like me
Oh is there enough pumped milk to transition
Oh my chest hurts...

I have almost weaned my day time pumping (mid morning and mid afternoon) completely. I am now only pumping to relieve pressure. Oh boy is there pressure. These babies are busting at the seams for most of the day. I have been eliminating two feedings over the course of two weeks. I have yet to handle a full weekend with Asher (we were out of town without him last weekend). I used to nurse exclusively on the weekend (no pump). This weekend makes me nervous. He has never taken a bottle from me before. He will want to nurse. Im his comfort. Oh boy.

Its amazing to me that something can be rock hard one minute and jello the next.
These poor babies.
In all fairness I think they are going to need some work one day.
Call me vain.

G-d bless the breasts.

Goof Balls!

Every night all three of us are home together we make sure to dedicate our time to one solid hour of family playtime before dinner and bath/bedtime. Philip is such a goof ball with Asher and I love it. He loves to get down on his level and act silly, laugh, talk, teach, read, play, instigate laughs (aka tickle) and cuddle with Asher.

Here is a glimpse of the nightly entertainment. I live for this.
I love these boys with every bone in my body.

Philip and I have watched this video over and over and every time we laugh more than the last time.

The Stair Climber

Thanks to Daddy who secretly taught him to climb the stairs while I was out one night with girlfriends and Softa who taught him how to be "safe", Asher now knows how to climb the stairs and slide down on his belly.

The gates are being purchased this week...he is way too curious and fast now!
He is loving his freedom and we are loving it for him, but its time for boundaries.

First Birthday Blessing

We decided for Asher' First Birthday we wanted to bring him to Temple for Friday night Shabbat Services so he could receive a special birthday blessing from Rabbi Judy.

Both Philip and I are very involved with Temple life (Executive Board of Directors, Charlotte Jewish Preschool Board, Adult Education Committee etc) and we feel it is very important to raise Asher attending Friday night services regularly.

I confess...there is nothing cuter than a little boy wearing a kippah...
that covers there entire head!

Rabbi Judy performing a special birthday blessing for Asher

Finally a nice family photo in honor of the occassion!

"I'm one ya'll... can you tell, do I look grown up?"

"what about now....? I'M ON THE GO!"

Crawling Every Where!

He is blessed and so are we!

World's biggest Yankees fan

I received a phone call about 2 weeks prior to Father's Day from my sister.
She snagged tickets to the Yankee's vs the Met's in the new Yankee Stadium for a Father's Day game. She was going to be in NYC for a work event so she could go to the game.

Eliza snagged some ridiculously good seats through a sweet connection.
She was so insanely excited and so was I. We wanted to find a way to get our YANKEE OBSESSED father to NYC for the game so they could go together on Father's Day.

Mom, Eliza and I went in on a flight to NYC for my Dad so he could see the new stadium (which he had been dying to see) and attend the game. We presented him his gift at dinner when my sister came in the weekend prior to Father's Day for Asher's birthday.

If you know my father, you know he is NEVER speechless.
This man NEVER shuts up.
For the first time in my life....I saw him speechless.
Oh and the Yankees World Championship snuggie was his original Father's Day present, hahah!
We love you Dad!

He was so ridiculously excited about going to the game and touring the new stadium. He grew up several blocks from Yankee Stadium as a kid and has been a lifetime die hard fan. Every year for his birthday he asks for the same gift... a susbcription to MLB baseball.

His Dream Came True...

How stinking cute are they?

They even brought Asher back a Derek Jeter shirt!

AND THE YANKEES WON!

After his trip he sent us the following email with photos attached:
How much do I love you? This____________________________________________________________________________much. I had a wonderful time yesterday with Eliza at Yankee Stadium. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. It’s a beautiful place that contains so much of the history of the Yankees that we could not come close to seeing it all. We had great seats (not in the sun) and were treated to a Grand Slam and a shutout by the Bombers. It was fantastic. Thank you isn’t enough to say. More like love you is much more appropriate.
Happy Farter's (Father's) Day Dad! We love you too!
