All week long they projected for gorgeous weather at least 2 of the 3 days of the long weekend.
ALL 3 days were NASTY. Clouds, fairly cool temps and RAIN. TONS OF RAIN. It's gorgeous somewhere... but that somewhere, we can't be. We were stuck here in yucky, rainy Charlotte patiently WAITING for the most precious being on the planet to grace us with his prescene. Of course, totally worth it!
The rain washed away all of my dreams of my last possible weekend to sit and do nothing but enjoy the sun by myself without any responsibilities.... at the pool ....which happened to open this weekend. I was so bummed, but we made the best of the lousy weather and spent lots of great time together.
Things we did together:
Grilled Salmon and watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (I of course fell asleep!)
Brunch with my entire family (Eliza and Rich and his parents were in town), went to the gym A LOT, enjoyed Starbucks, shopped at Marshall's, snagged the coolest cement bench ever for our backyard (more details on this at a later point), yard work, late dinner Saturday night (sushi/chinese), made S'mores, went to the Discovery Place museum, took naps, grilled out with both our parents for dinner and cleaned out the entire refridgerator/kitchen cabinets!
Whew... lots!
Just this past week my girlfriend Cassidy posted about how her husband and daughter camped out in their backyard. On Saturday afternoon we noticed our next door neighbors setting up their tent in their backyard. We are very close with them and of course happened to be outside working in the yard (this was before and in between the rain) and found out that they were exposing their daughter to camping for the first time since Miguel (the dad) grew up in a camping family and really wanted to begin taking her with them. They had plans to camp out in the backyard with Amelia who wil be 3 this August. Amelia had different plans. As they settled into the tent around 9 pm she requested to go to her "inside bed". Too funny.
Oh, those smores look heavenly! Glad that you introduced him to American goodness!
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to be an inspiration...
ReplyDeleteSmores were one of my cravings last pregnancy and so far have been this one as well. But I make mine a little more yummy by adding peanut butter. I just put a little on each graham cracker with the marshmellows and chocolate- OMG it is heaven!
